The Lok Ma Chau Loop (LMCL) is a piece of land about 84 hectares in area which lies north of the Shenzhen River loop and south of our boundary with Shenzhen. It became part of Hong Kong after the completion of a Shenzhen River training project in 1997, but the land is still owned by Shenzhen. Thanks to its unique geographical and historical situation, the LMCL represents a unique opportunity for Mainland and Hong Kong people to work together to combine the resources of both Shenzhen and Hong Kong to innovate and to create new enterprises.
With this in view, a group of Legislative Councilors, technology and academic leaders have banded together to form an Alliance on the Lok Ma Chau Development to propel development of this unique area. The Alliance held its first Roundtable discussion with senior government officials on 7 December 2008. It followed up on the discussions by designing a questionnaire to poll the IT industry and academia on developmental proposals for the LMCL. Support us by staying tuned to what’s happening on this new and exciting front...
