SAVANTAS POLITICAL ACADEMY

OUR MISSION
“To transform Hong Kong into a world-class city based on knowledge, culture and creativity.”

OUR VISION
“For Hong Kong to become a world-class city, responsible and democratic citizenship must be promoted.
For Hong Kong to play to her strengths, both Chinese and Western culture must be embraced.”

TWO CORE VALUES
1. For Hong Kong to become a world-class city, we believe in responsible and democratic citizenship. Therefore we shall:

a. Educate the public on regional issues so they may be well-informed and develop their own opinions without being easily swayed by irresponsible demagogues.
b. Promote civic participation so regional issues can be solved through democratic processes and community involvement. For example through public policy debates, seminars and conferences.

2. For Hong Kong to become a world-class city, we must harness the cultural resources from both Chinese and Western traditions. Therefore, we shall:

a. Educate the public in Chinese scholarship, so our citizens may learn more about our Chinese cultural heritage, in order to maintain HK’s unique cultural diversity in an increasingly globalized world.
b. Educate the public in Western scholarship, so our citizens may understand how mainstream Western culture is shaping the world economy and global relations.

WHY ‘POLITICAL’ ACADEMY?
We believe that a mature and successful democracy relies on highly educated citizens who are able to make rational and informed decisions based on independent and critical thinking. Good education is essential to good politics. Therefore, to achieve this goal, Savantas Political Academy (SPA) shall pursue her political vision, i.e. responsible and democratic citizenship for Hong Kong, through education.
